Storyboard Text

  • This is my most favorite day!
  • Nicolaus Copernicus was born into a  very wealthy family on February 19, 1473. He was the youngest of four children .
  • Didn't you say that when our last three children were born too?
  • Of course I will.
  • This boy needs a father. Lucas will you care for him?
  • In the mid 1480s, Nicolaus' dad passed away. Lucas Watzenrode went to care for Nicolaus .
  • Wow. I can't believe we finally made it.
  • Copernicus joined the University of Krakow in 1491, a very good school.
  • Did you know the sun is technically a star?
  • I thought ist was just a big ball god created to make Earth a bright place.
  • In 1496, Copernicus also studied in Bologna for some time as well. There, he met Domenico Maria Novara, and became his astronomical pupil.
  • I can't believe it! I've finally prooved a heliocentric solar system!
  • That took so long that I grew facial hair!
  • In 1514, Copernicus finally finished his book, Commentariolus  about proof of a heliocentric solar system. This is what he is most known for.
  • Copernicus was an unmarried canon for the rest of his life, until his death in 1543. He's said to have been clutching his last book.
