  • Leaving Colchis
  • Orpheus and the Sirens
  • The Bronze Giant
  • After Jason and Medea retrieve the Golden Fleece, they and the Argonauts leave Colchis on the Argo. Aeetes and his fleet follow them, but to buy the Argonauts some time, Medea killed her brother Apsyrtus. Aeetes had to stop his ships to recover his son's body and give him a proper burial. Zeus was appalled at Medea's deed, so he sent a number of storms towards the Argo. After the storms passed, the Argonauts faced two dangers.
  • Back to IoclusThe Death of Pelias
  • First, the Argonauts encountered the Sirens. The Sirens are famous for causing ships to crash into reefs because of their captivating voices that tended to mesmerize captains and crews. Luckily, the Argo had Orpheus on board and he played the lyre so beautifully and loudly that it completely drowned out the Siren's songs and let the Argonauts pass safely.
  • Many MurdersPart One
  • Near Crete, after the Argonauts had passed the Sirens, they came upon an even greater danger: Talos, a giant bronze man who guarded the island and threw rocks at anyone approaching. Medea cast a spell on him that removed the plug to his only vein, which held all of his ichor. Talos promptly bred to death.
  • Many MurdersPart Two
  • Jason, Medea, and the Argonauts eventually got back to Ioclus. Since many years had passed, Jason found his father Aeson at a very old age. Jason asked Medea to give some of his life to his father. Instead, Medea slit Aeson's throat and drained him of all his blood, replacing it with a rich elixir. Aeson appeared 40 years younger, and Pelias' daughters wanted the same for Pelias. Medea did drain all of Pelias' blood, but she didn't replace it. Pelias died at the hands of his daughters.
  • Pelias' son, Acastus, became king and immediately exiled Medea and Jason. The couple traveled to Corinth where Jason fell in love with King Creon's daughter, Creusa. Medea confronted Jason, but he decided to ignore her. In revenge, Medea gifted Creusa a poisoned dress. As soon as Creusa put on the dress, she was consumed by a great fire, as was her father who came to her rescue. Medea also killed her two sons by Jason, and she left for Athens on a chariot sent by Helios.
  • Having lost Hera's favor after breaking his vows with Medea, Jason cut a lonely and desolate figure, only a shadow of the influential captain that he had once been. Jason died a death unfitting a hero; one night while he was sleeping under the stern of his once glorious ship, the Argo, a rotten beam fell down on him and crushed him into oblivion.
