in the 1800s longhorns were introduced to texans. They were strong animals and they can survive in hot weather, they ate prickly pear cacti, they didn’t need lots of water. The reason why they have longhorns is because it helps them to survive from predators. Some texans store the horns of the longhorns.
There was a man who believed that there was oil found under a salt dome at the place called spindletop hill. The guy hired some guys that can work at his company. The company drilled three holes at the spindletop hill. Oil didn’t come up but he never ever gave up. He hired this guy named anthony f. Lucas and he claimed to be an expert on salt domes. In 1900 at 575 feet he found the hidden oil.
In the late 1800s farming was the biggest scale for growing crops and to sell it. Farmers started to grow only cotton. It went up in the drier parts of the state; well in east texas. Texas farmers money went up to about 57 million dollars! In the late 1800s they began to sell cotton all around the world. Railroads began to open up areas to produce farming ads. Later on they began to ship all different kinds of food.
