Storyboard Text

  • Cough, cough, Mom! I don't feel good.
  • Ah choo. I feel junky mom. My throat is dry, my eyes are watery, I have a mean rash, and I can't stop sneezing.
  • Oh no, those are all symptoms of the measles and you have a fever. Let's go to the doctor.
  • Unfortunately, it is the measles. Measles is caused by infection with the rubeola virus and the virus lives in the mucus of the nose and throat of an infected person. How long has he been like this?
  • What is the cause of measles?
  • Hey, doc, is it what I thought it was? He's had it for about 10-12 days and he's had a fever and rash for a while.
  • You probably caught it because an infected person breathed, touched, coughed, or sneezed on you.
  • So how did I catch it?
  • There is no specific treatment, it should go away within 7-10 days. You can prevent getting it by getting vaccinated and since you already had it you're immune to it. Also, stay at home until it has gone away.
  • Are there any treatments and how can we prevent this for the future?
  • I feel much better! I think I'm going to go play basketball.
  • I'm glad to hear that honey! Have fun.
