  • The symbolism is the black dot, it is associated with death and bad luck because when you get the black you are unlucky. The reason you are unlucky is because you're about to get stoned. 
  • Tone-Terror
  • This is sight because I can see the flowers blooming profusely and the that the grass was richly green as if it was right in front of me. 
  • Symbol-Stones
  • In the text it says that, "The black box grew sharper" and this is personification because boxes can't grow sharper but people can. 
  • Juxtaposition
  • Before
  • After
  • This is terror because Mrs. Hutchinson was scared and in terror when she realized that she was the one who got the black dot and was going to die.
  • It's not fair!
  • The symbolism is the stonesIn the story everyone picks up one or multiple stones to kill the person who gets chosen, therefore they represent death.
  • Before the lottery everyone was peaceful and then after the lottery everyone violent.
