Storyboard Text

  • Jonas nodded, agreeing, as he recalled the incident, and its accompanying misery. (pg;62)
  • Jonas entered the Annex room and realized immediately that he was going to be sent away the Giver was rigid in his chair.
  • " but you will be faced now," with pain of a magnitude that none of us here can comprehend because it is beyond our experience." (pg:62-63)
  • "Jonas", "the training involves pain. physical pain". (pg:62)
  • Should I tell at share of feelings or lie?
  • No, I'm just tired and my school lessons were very hard today. (pg:110)
  • "Jonas did not want to go back he didn't want the honor he didn't want the memories he didn't want the wisdom, didn't want the pain." (pg;121)
  • "Is something wrong Jonas? You're so quiet tonight. Aren't you feeling well? Would you like some medication? " (pg:110)
  • •Once more toward dawn, the newchild woke and cried out. Again Jonas went to him. This time he quite deliberately placed his hands firmly on Gabe's back and released the last of the calming day on the lake and Gabriel slept.(pg:116
  • "I'll come back tomorrow."(pg:118) "Unless theirs something I can do to help?" (pg:118)
  • Jonas just excepted a job that will involve vey much pain that Jonas has never encountered before. He may not succeed at it but he has the courage to at least try to do it.
  • Jonas had just lied to his parents which took a lot of courage because even though he was allowed to lie, he was taught not to. Jonas felt bad lying to his parents but he had to because it would keep them safe from the terrible memories that had been transferred to him.
  • Jonas left his town, his safe place, his comfort zone to give the people his memories. He and the Giver thought that the people would be happier once they and the memories they would start to see colors and be happier with the memories and they would gain wisdom to help younger ones. Also they would gain courage and seeing beyond. They would discover new things good and bad. But as the Giver was helping the people with the memories Jonas was going with Gabe who would have been released, they were truing to find elsewhere that Jonas ha seen in his memories. On the last day they thought they were going to die. But they saw a sled so they took the sled down the hill. And then they saw lights and a celebration just like in Jonas' memories. The trip that Jonas and Gabe took needed a lot of courage and Jonas was going to try to get to elsewhere and we don't know if he did or not but he kept trying and wasn't going to give up no matter how hard the journey was.
  • Jonas gave away a memory that could make Gabe different and possibly dangerous. But he did it to help Gabe sleep and feel better. Not everybody would go through that much trouble to help a deprived baby when they just could release them and not worry about them anymore.
  • Jonas knows that this memory but that he has is very painful but he has enough courage to take that memory and pain away from him and let it enter his brain and memory to stay forever. He may not make it through this memory but he will try to help the Giver through pain.
  • This was a lot of pain for anyone and Jonas didn't think that he would succeed. But he had the courage to keep going and get the wisdom and strength that he had been selected to get.
