They arrive to the concentration and they see people being separated
Men go one way and women go the other!
The guards are standing there to instruct the men to go to the left and the women to the right
Elie sees his mom and his sister getting further and further away and realizes that its going to be the last time he sees them.
Elie is holding on to his fathers hand to make sure they don't lose each other because he doesn't want to be alone.
A prisoner is asking for their age and he tells them to say that Elie is 18 and that his dad is 40 because it can determine who lives or dies
You can't say that you are 15 and 40
One of the prisoners starts an argument with another prisoner and tells him that they will throw him into the pit of fire and becomes furious. That makes the other prisoners afraid.
