Moses was found by the Pharaoh's daughter at the Nile river.Then God came to him as a burning bush and told him to free his people. God brought plagues to make them believe and listen to Moses. After the Jews were freed, the Egyptians changed their mind and chased the Jews. Then, God told Moses to hold up his staff and the water will split in half for them to pass. When the Jews got to the other side, the water crashed down on the Egyptians.

After defeating Goliath, David was known as a great warrior. King Saul tried to kill him due to his jealousy. The Israelites preferred David more over him because of the way he ruled. Then, he became the second king after King Saul died. Years later, he had a son named Solomon who built the temple. The people didn't like Solomon as a king because of his rules.Therefore, the kingdom got divided into Israel and Judah.
The Persians took over Babylon and allowed the Jews to go to Judah. Those who stayed rebuilt Jerusalem and the temple. Since the Jews were not allowed to have a king or their own government. They relied on religious leaders like the temple priests and scribes. Both had responsibilities, the temple priests are in charge of the sacrifices and the scribes also known as rabbis teach the Law of Moses.
After defeating the Persians, the Greeks took over Israel and Judah and renamed it as Palestine. They let the Jews stay and taught them the Greek language and ways. Both of the army generals of Alexander, the Greek King who died, did not agree with each other. Therefore, the land was divided into the northern country, Syria, and the southern country, Egypt.
After countless of rebels, the Romans always took over Jerusalem. There were Jews known as Zealots who rebelled. Then years later, Simon Bar Kochba, a military leader, helped the Jews rebel. Although both were successful, the Romans always successfully took it back. The Jews were struggling and many Jews died due to the rebellions. The rabbis were their only leaders and religion became more important to them.
