Storyboard Text

  • After a star exploded , a supernova was formed, sending gas and dust into a gravitational area, causing a solar nebula.
  • As the gas and dust spun around in a disk formation, it sent rings into space, the one in the center, the hottest of all, the sun.
  • About 4.5 years ago the other rings that were sent out became the planets we know as Earth, Mars, Venus< Mercury and the other planets.
  • In the same eon, a theory called the Giant impact hypothesis, says the Moon was created after a body the size of Mars struck the proto-Earth.
  • The first larger pieces of continental crust are also dated to the Archean Eons. What remains of these first small continents are called cratons, they are the origins of what our time continents grow off
  • About 750 million years ago the first super continent broke then reconnected to make Pannotia, then one last time to make Pangea. Pangea was the last super continent to break 180 million years agoand the pieces that broke of are what formed our 7 continents today.
