- Ignore me all you want, but I can't feel pain.
- Yes you can, Billy. And it's all because of your nervous system. Without it, you wouldn't have been able to feel that pinch.
- *pinch!*
- You know? The brain and spinal cord are part of the Central Nervous System where your body decides how to react to a stimulus? And the nerve cells throughout your body are called neurons.
- Nerves work throughout your body to receive signals of the stimulus , then send an impulse, or message, to your brain by means of sensory neurons. The sensory neurons translate a stimulus into a message, then the inter neurons carry the message between neurons. Nerves are a part of the Peripheral Nervous System, the mainframe of neurons apart from the brain and spinal cord.
- Some actions are reflexes, where you don't consciously think about what to do.
