In the Summer of 1942 Canada an operation, Operation Jubilee was devised to test combined operations attacks in order to break into Europe and help Russia against Germany
The soldiers believed that things would work out and the operation would succeed.
Don't worry men, it'll be a piece of cake.
As the soldiers charged the beaches the plan immediately went awry, each group or team not only failed their assigned missions but also worked in no cohesive way causing the attack to just fall apart.
Even the troops that made it into town faced heavy opposition, losing their lives.
Eventually a retreat was called with many causalities and some soldiers being taken prisoner, those that died later being remembered forever, as we should remember them as well.
Although the operation was a failure it served as a learning experience and showed the Allies their weaknesses, because of this failure they learned to improve sea to land operations with better communication, planning and artillery.
