During a fight with Fred Fulton on 19 June 1917, Langford lost vision in his left eye. Despite the impairment, he continued to box for eight more years.
Sam Langford was born March 4th 1886 in Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia. At just the young age of 12 his mother died and he was driven out of the house by his abusive father.
SAM! Get back here this instant!
His more noteable accomlishments were being inducted to the Canadian Sports HOF, Middle weight champion, heavy weight champion, and the International Boxing HOF.
During his career Langford boxed at a time where whites believed they shouldn't pay to watch a black boxer fight. He was deprived of many oppertunities becasue he was black so he never won a championship.
Sam got his first title shot 18months later and won but sadly he was over the 135 weight limit he was not awarded the belt
Ahhh, I can't see!
Thank you, thank you
Now adays people pay thousands of dollars to watch boxer fight, boxers of any race, People like Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson made millions of dollars and were not denied titlte shots becuase of thier race. There could be improvements in atheltes sportsmanship and somertimes athletes may have racial slurs yelled at them.
