Since poor harvest had been occurring recently all the crops started to die. Then the price of bread raised to where most families couldn't afford.

The estate system was made up of three estates. The First Estate was made up of clergy;the second state was made up of rich nobles. The Third Estate was made up of peasants and bourgeious. The third estate had a disadvantage because they paied 98% taxes and nobody listened to them.

Louis faces difficulties cutting expenses and makes a solution by imposing taxes on nobility. Then the second estate forces him to call a meeting of the Estate-General. An assembly was called from all three estates, to approve the new tax. This meeting was held on May 5th, 1789 at Versailles.
