  • Thomas Gallaudet was born on December 10, 1787 in Philadelphia. After a few years he moved to Connecticut and grew up there.
  • Welcome home Thomas
  • Many years later Thomas Gallaudet attested Yale University at the age of 14, and received his masters in 1810.
  • I love Yale and can't wait to learn!
  • Soon after college Thomas traveled to Europe where he met deaf 9 year-old Alice. He knew he wanted to help Alice and people like her.
  • Hi I'm Thomas.
  • I'm deaf
  • While in Europe Thomas learned about sign language and manual signs. He traded back to America to share his finings with the world and help more people like Alice. 
  • I can't wait to show everyone what I learned 
  • Many years later back in America Thomas co-founded the first American School for the Deaf: Gallaudet University.

  • Thomas died on September 10, 1851 at the age of 64 in Connecticut During his life time he was able to change Deaf education and lives all over.
