The witches appear out of the thunder and lighting. They make plans to meet again after battle to confront MacBeth.
King Duncan and a wounded captain are talking about how well the battle is going. Captain tells Duncan on how MacBeth killed MacDonwald, a traitor
As the wounded soldier went to get this wounds tended, the Thane of Ross tells Duncan that the Thane of Cawdor had been defeated. Then, Duncan decrees that the old Thane be executed and MacBeth be given his title.
On their way back to Duncan, Macbeth and Banquo run into the Weird Sisters. Terrified by their appearances, they question whether or not they are real woman. The Weird Sisters there inform MacBeth of his future, telling him he will be King one day.
When MacBeth's about to ask for an explanation, the witches disappear. Ross arrives and tells MacBeth that the King has declared him Thane. This gets MacBeth thinking that the words the witches spoke were true.
Once MacBeth finally arrives at the King's castle, he is informed that the old Thane of Cawdor was executed. Duncan professes his gratitude to Banquo and Macbeth and they profess their loyalty and gratitude to him.
