I need to help my family. Since Dad accidently chopped off his thump while doing my chores, he can not work as a voyaguer anymore. I need a job in order to help out. I should ask if this place has job available.
I hate this job! My arms are so sore and tired. I'd rather be at school than on this boat. I already miss my family. The crew is picking on me. Calling me a "Puppy" or "Grandpa". I can't believe I will be doing this job for 12 or more weeks!
I am so tired and back hurts. All the bags are so heavy. The portage is very hard work. And still all the men make fun of me. They pulled a prank on me just because they thought that I was too small to hold packages. All my blisters are bleeding. The only person that is nice to me is La Londe.
The waves are so dangerous. All ofthe sudden we hit a spot that the rapid became waves. I thought the boat was going to almost break in half untill La Londe died from the rapids. Everyone was really sad, but over a couple days we had to keep going. Then Charbonneau and Beloit got in a fight. It lifted most of the crewmens spirits.
I have finally made it to the Grand Portage! This means I am half way to being done with this trip. The Grand Portage looked sooo pretty! I also for the first time met the Ojibwe tribe. Their culture is very different but intersting all at the same time. I met this girl named Kennewah. She very nice to me and she is very pretty.
I think I have made my decision. I am going to go home. I have realized how much I miss my family. But, I will be here next time. I have had learned very much from this trip and I hope I will learn more things soon to come. I aperstate La londe for helping me along the way the most that he could. But I am ready to come home now and I know he is home too.
