At this point the kinetic energy was at its lowest point because it's at the highest level. The potential energy was at its highest point because potential energy equals height times velocity squared and we are dropping it at the highest point. The total energy was equal with potential.
At this point of the drop the kinetic energy increased, the parachute is deploy then potential energy decreases and so does the kinetic and total energy. Both the kinetic and the potential energy levels have decreased nut they still make up the total amount of energy.
At this point of the drop the kinetic energy was reduced so much by the parachute that it had no effect. The potential energy was also reduced so much that the velocity was almost no effect. The total energy is reduced because the potential and kinetic energy was reduced.
