  • The Invention
  • After World War 1, the government was in debt because of the cost of the war and victory bonds that the government owed Canadians. The cost of living became twice as expensive as the salaries people were earning.
  • I've been so grummy since Robert left for the war. He's home any day now but he's going to have a fright when he sees how the economy is doing!
  • And how! I know John will get in a lather. Think of all the dough the government needs to pay.
  • After the men left to  fight, the woman had to take over their jobs in the factory in order to keep things running. This angered the soldiers when they returned home. Factories had to completely change over and there were stockpiles of weapons left over from the war.
  • I know, the boys will cast a kitten. Especially when they see all the dames that have their jobs. I hope everything gets fixed soon.
  • Banana oil! The factories still have to switch from making war weapons back to pots and pans.
  • Soldiers also became angry because they expected more from the Canadian government after the sacrifices they made for the country. They wanted jobs, a veterans pension, and medical care, but they were provided with a very limited amount of aid upon their return.
  • Mary I'm home!
  • You're telling me, the whole thing is baloney! The woman have our jobs, there's no pension and barely any medical care for us. This is not what I fought so long for.
  • John I missed you so much! Everything's been screwy since you left.
  • That's nuts! They have to fix it some way, at least you're back home.
  • The assembly line was introduced in 1913 to create jobs, increase efficiency in factories, and mass produce products for a cheaper price.
  • To resolve the beef that the citizens have brought up, we've now created the assembly line to give more people job opportunities and increase productivity.
  • Attaboy! Woohoo!
  • This is gonna be the bees knees!
  • The assembly line was an idea that transformed the economy and led to the "Kaboom" in the 1920's.
  • I can finally support my family and this job is the cat's meow!
  • I know and I hear chin music that Henry Ford is getting us to build something new soon.
