Before the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing was often done in people's homes, using hand tools or basic machines. Weapons and transportation weren’t as effective. Society was very static and often cruel – child labour, dirty living conditions, and long working hours.
The Industrial Revolution was a time period that drastically changed the way humans lived through the use of new energy sources such as steam and coal. It caused an increase in production brought about by the use of machines and characterized by the use of new energy sources.
