  • Theres nothing in place to protect us from an abusive government!
  • Checks and balances!!!!
  • Even after the Constitutional Convention there were disagreements over the Constitution. Some felt that the Constitution was perfect as it was, and did not need any change. This group was referred to as the Federalists. Others felt that the constitution gave the central government too much power, and that a Bill of Rights needed to be added to prevent the government from infringing upon the rights of man. This group was referred to as the Anti-Federalists.
  • Eventually, the anti-federalists got their way and a Bill of Rights was added to the constitution, guaranteeing certain civil rights and liberties that the government could take away. With agreement from the Anti-federalists, the Constitution was ratified and thus became the official framework of the government of the United States of America.
  • Yay! Agreement!
