  • Exposition
  • Inciting Incident
  • ------
  • Rising action
  • The exposition is the beginning of the story when the setting and characters are introduced. In "The Necklace" the main character is introduced as being from a wealthy family. But she seems greedy and wants more than she has.
  • Climax
  • The inciting incident is what starts the story. What causes the rising action. In "The necklace" Its the letter her husband gives her that invites her to a Ball. so now she needs fancy clothing.
  • Falling Action
  • The rising action is the buildup to the climax, it usually builds tension. The rising action in "The Necklace" is when the main character is looking for jewelry and a dress she thought was fit for the ball.
  • Resolution
  • The climax of the story is usually when the main conflict is answered. The climax in "The Nekclace"  is when the main character looses the diamond necklace she is loaned for the ball.
  • The falling action of a story is the 'beginning of the end'. Its after the climax and starts to wrap up the plot. The falling action in "the necklace" Is when the main character is paying monthly payments for a different necklace she bought so she could disguise it as the original. Her friend didn't even know she lost the old one. The payments left her being poor.
  • The resolution of a story is the end. When the plot is finished and so the story finishes. The resolution in "The necklace" is when her friend finds the main character down the road (Who looks terrible do to being poor) and asked why she looked so bad. She tells her friend the story of the payments We have a major plot twist when her friend says it wasn't a 'real' Diamond necklace
