  • The Third Estate (Commoners), The Second Estate (The Rich People), and the First Estate (The Clergy) all met in Versailles in 1789 to come up with ideas to fix the Financial Crisis going on in France. the Third Estate voted to tax the other 2 estates as well as the Third Estate. The other 2 Estates voted against the idea and won because of Vote by Order and Majority. I believe this event was a shift away from democracy because the King took the matter into his own hands, which is not helping the power of the people
  • The March of Versailles
  • During the National Assembly, The Third Estate was locked out of the meeting room and they made their way to an indoor tennis court where they stayed pledging to stay together until a constitution was written. They got their wish when the Constitution of 1891 was written, limiting Louis XVI's power
  • The Reign of Terror
  • On July 14, 1789 the Third Estate Stormed La Bastille (The Bastille) against 30 French Soldiers. La Bastille is a Prison in Paris
