  • 1.Some Texans began driving cattle to out-of-state markets. James Taylor White began to drive cattle from Liberty Country to markets in New Orleans,and in discovered in California, some Texans drove a number of cattle west to help feed the growing population of miner.Despite the growth of the cattle industry, ranchers faced several challenges.           
  • The rush of companies drilling oil at spindletop soon led to the depletion of the field. By 1904 spindletop was producing only 10,000 barrels of oil a day. Most or the new companies that had formed went out of business when their wells dried up.
