...It would be an infinite crime on the part of the revolutionaries were they to let thechance slip, knowing that the salvation of the revolution, the offer of peace, thesalvation of Petrograd, salvation from famine, the transfer of the land to the peasantsdepend upon them.
I hate Lenin!!!
...
Working conditions in the early 1900s in Russia were unjust. Workers had to work long hours and were fed improperly. Morale was at a low.
In the midst of the unjust working conditions, a group called the Bolsheviks vied for power, seeking to lead Russia into communism. They gathered the support of the people, led by Vladimir Lenin.
The Cheka was a secret police force that Lenin used to bring down anyone that expressed a dislike to his way of government. It was unknown who was in the Cheka and people could be reported to the Cheka for only saying they were against Lenin.

After the Bolsheviks took power, there was a civil war in Russia between the communist Red Army and the imperialist White Army. The Red Army, well-organized and led by Leon Trotsky, ended up winning.
The communist party's general secretary, Joseph Stalin, was rising to power. Lenin didn't trust him and suggested he be removed from his position.
With Lenin having died and Stalin in charge of Russia, Lenin's foretelling of the "unlimited authority concentrated in his hands" was about to come true.
