Storyboard Text
Siddhartha Gautama was born in Kapilavatthu to King Suddhodana and Queen Mahamaya. However, the queen died two days after the prince was born.
Siddhartha was kept inside most of his life because his father wanted to protect him from the suffering of the world.
Once, he asked to go outside and he saw people suffering. He wanted to help these people by finding a way to end their suffering.
While Siddhartha was outside the castle, he met a holy man who had reached enlightenment. He decided to start wandering as a holy man as well.
He left his family and home and began wandering.
While Siddhartha was trying to reach enlightenment, he fasted so long he almost died. However, a young girl gave him food and saved his life.
He realised that if he died that he wouldn't have achieved anything in life.
Siddhartha realized that he needed to reach enlightenment by using a middle path, which would help him reach harmony in his life.
He sat under a tree and did not leave until he reached enlightenment. After seven days he reached enlightenment by meditating and thinking.
Siddhartha started to spread his message to people. He was given the name "Buddha" which means "the enlightened one" by his followers.
