Storyboard Text

  • Siddhartha Gautama was born in Kapilavatthu to King Suddhodana and Queen Mahamaya. However, the queen died two days after the prince was born.
  • Siddhartha was kept inside most of his life because his father wanted to protect him from the suffering of the world.
  • Once, he asked to go outside and he saw people suffering. He wanted to help these people by finding a way to end their suffering.
  • While Siddhartha was outside the castle, he met a holy man who had reached enlightenment. He decided to start wandering as a holy man as well.
  • He left his family and home and began wandering.
  • While Siddhartha was trying to reach enlightenment, he fasted so long he almost died. However, a young girl gave him food and saved his life.
  • He realised that if he died that he wouldn't have achieved anything in life.
  • Siddhartha realized that he needed to reach enlightenment by using a middle path, which would help him reach harmony in his life.
  • He sat under a tree and did not leave until he reached enlightenment. After seven days he reached enlightenment by meditating and thinking.
  • Siddhartha started to spread his message to people. He was given the name "Buddha" which means "the enlightened one" by his followers.
