  • Odysseus is speaking to King Alcinous about his journey home from Troy and his encounter with the Lotus Eaters.
  • Sure, why not?

  • After ten days of drifting on the sea, Odysseus lands on the island of the Lotus Eaters.
  • Aaaaah! Help us!
  • "No one taste the lotus, or you will lose your hope of home!"(Homer 9, 51-52).
  • After Odysseus and his crew have their mid-day meal, he sends three runners to explore the island and see what inhabits it.
  • "All hands aboard; come, clear the beach!"(Homer 9, 50-51).
