After Mildred and her friends turned in the alarm for Montag and his books, when Montag and the firemen arrive she walks out with suitcase in hand running to a car. She goes away without saying a goodbye to Montag. Montag is so devastated at first and confused.
Montag ends up killing Captain Beatty after getting so angered by him, especially since he got his ear piece from Faber. Montag just shoots a huge flame thrower at Beatty causing him to fall ruffling around until he takes his last breathe. The other two firemen there lay there hoping to not die also.
The dystopian city gets bombed into nothing. Montag wants Faber and Mildred to be safe. He tries calling out to even Clarisse remembering she is already gone. There is nothing he can really do.
