In this environment, black rocks are found all around allowing black mice to hide easier than the tan. Birds are found all aroud and are the natural pretadors of these mice. Hence the black mice blend into the enviorment more than the tan, the tan are eaten and black are left to populate.
Eventually over time only black mice are left which reproduce creating more black mice and so on until slowly there are no more tan mice and only black. This means black mice can easily hide and defend themselves as they natuarlly got rid of an unwanted trait.
