  • Freedom of Speech- citizens must say what they want to express opinions without being punished
  • Fourth Amendment
  • Some argue on whether guns should be allowed for protection or whether they are too dangerous for people to have
  • Fifth Amendment
  • you have the choice to testify for yourself
  • Government cannot force citizens to let soldiers live in their houses during peace time and can only require citizens to house soldiers if it is war time and congress passes a law
  • Sixth Amendments
  • Government CANNOT search people's houses/belongings unless they have a warrant or probable cause - suspicious behavior, look, smell
  • I'm going to search your car for any substances
  • A person cannot be forced to testify for themselves. A person may only be put on trial for a high crime if a jury decides if there is enough evidence.
  • I wish to testify
  • Trials must be "speedy and public". During their trial, they must be told what they are being accused of. They accused person may also have the right to have a lawyer and be in the courtroom whilst someone testifies against them.
