  • The Virginians wanted the number of representatives to be based on the population. 
  • New Jersey Plan
  • The  Jersey plan was to have three branches of government 
  • The Great Compromise
  • The Great Compromise was an agreement between the Virginia plan and The New Jersey plan.
  • Northern States 
  • The Northern states believed that slaves should have been counted towards taxation and they wanted to get rid of slaves  
  • Southern States 
  • The Southern states believed that slaves were important. They thought that they were important because they made money off of the slaves.
  • The 3/5 Compromise
  • They resolved this problem by making The 3/5 Compromise. This meant that out of five slaves only three counted
