  • Dorothy Vaughan was a African American who worked for NACA which changed to NASA. She worked there as a west computer for them. This will tell you about Dorothy Vaughan. 
  • Dorothy Vaughan was born on September 20, 1910 and died on November 10, 2008. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri and when she turned 8, she moved to West Virginia. When she was 2, her mother died and her dad remarried. She went to college at Wilberforce University. 
  • Dorothy Vaughan had a couple major life accomplishments. One of those accomplishments was becoming a supervisor at NACA. She was the supervisor for the west computers. Another one was she helped a lot of people, especially African Americans. 
  • Dorothy Vaughan accomplishments impacted society by the way she helped the people at NACA. She helped the people that built the rockets. She didn't build the rockets, but helped sketch out the layouts and the calculations. Dorothy Vaughan also helped the women at NACA to be better people. 
  • Dorothy Vaughan had so many things done in her life. Some of her characteristics are like how smart she was. She was very smart to have to calculate all those numbers for rockets to fly into space. This This made her succeed in life because she was able to be smart and get a good education even with all kinds of craziness going on around her. 
  • Dorothy Vaughan's actions can do a lot to just one person. Her actions influenced society so much. One person can learn a lot from her. One thing that might influence a person in his/her life could be how she accomplished her goal. Dorothy Vaughan always wanted to be the supervisor for west computing. As she kept working harder she finally got what she wanted. This can influence people, if you work hard you can get things accomplished.
