In the beginning of the book Montag, a fireman, is burning a house because someone let them know that the house had books in it.
Montag meets Clarisse Mclellan while walking home from work and she changes his perspective on some of the things that are going on around him. He starts to collect books which is against the law.
Montag goes and meets with Faber, a professor he had met before, and they hatch out a plan to sort of get rid of firemen. Faber give Montag a thing to put in his ear so Faber can hear what Montag's hearing and tell him what to say.
A New Beginning
Captain Beatty, Montag's boss, starts to suspect something is up with Montag so he starts hassling him. He starts talking to him about how stupid books are. He's trying to get a reaction out of Montag.
Mildred, Montag's wife, tips the firemen about the books at their house and leaves Montag. He has to burn down his house. He ends up killing Captain Beatty and the other firemen and he becomes a wanted man.
Montag visits Faber who tells him he should go over the river where the old train tracks are. Once Montag goes there, he follows the river until he reaches land. He meets these older men who are like Faber and they decide to go fix the world they know, return it to how it used to be.
