  • Sharecropping is a big thing in Texas, now that the Civil War is over. It is really great for land owners like me because the former slaves work on our fields and we get most of the benefits.
  • I personally don't like sharecropping because it often leaves people like me in debt and we end up in poverty. To me it feels like this is no better than slavery.
  • Why not, sharecropping is what is helping us make a living during these rough times.
  • Sharecropping is a way for poor farmers, who don't have any land of their own, to make a living by working on other people's land. We are hoping that someday we will have enough money to buy our own land.
  • Well, I guess we get a little money from selling our share of the crops, but not nearly as much as we should.
