  • Gray wolves are one of the most common of all wolves.
  • Gray wolves can survive in many biomes. As long as food is plentiful and the climate is cold.
  • Gray wolves have wooly fur to give them insulation and long guard hairs to keep out moisture.
  • They have big paws with fleshy pads and claws that help with traction and support in the snow. Wolves have a senses of hearing twenty times sharper than an average human and a sense of smell a hundred times keener.
  • The gray wolf's jaw can deliver a crushing  pressure of 500 pounds every square inch. A wolf's vision is motion sensitive and the have a reflective retina called tapetum which enhances night vision, but they can't see color.
  • Wolves have incredible stamina, they can cover a distance more than eighteen miles at a quick trot. They have have a top speed of about 40 miles per hour.
