Banquo assisted Macbeth but only Macbeth gets recognition, Duncan orders execution for TOC
In battle, wounded officer tells Duncan the bravery Macbeth showed in battle
Current TOC betrays King Duncan and Macbeth defeats TOC (without killing him).
Macbeth and Banquo come across the 3 witches. They tell Macbeth he is going to be TOC and eventually king. Ross comes to confirm Macbeth is TOC
“But ‘tis strange! And oftentimes, to win us to our harm, the instruments of darkness tell us truths.." (1.3.124-129)
Banquo is suspicious of the witches and questions them. Macbeth (left person) is overwhelmed.
Duncan demands to know if the TOC has been executed. Malcom (Duncans's son) says he witnessed his death
Duncan thanks Macbeth and Banquo for their bravery and loyalty and announces his son Malcom the heir to the throne
Lady Macbeth reads a letter from Macbeth and finds out about the witches prophecy that he will king.
"Look like the innocent flower, But be the serpent under't." (1.5.64)
Lady Macbeth is lowkey evil, sneaky & a bad influence. She thinks Macbeth is too nice. She learns Duncan is coming to Macbeths castle later and that is when they must kill him.
Duncan praises the castle's pleasant environment and thanks Lady Macbeth, who is greeting him, for her hospitality. She says her and her husband owe so much to their king that it is their pleasure
"See, see, our honored hostess. The love that follows us sometime is our trouble, Which still we thank as love." (1.6.11-13)
"Our eldest, Malcolm, whom we name hereafter, The Prince of Cumberland" (1.4.39-30)
