- Report it to the physician and nurse practitioner first, to confirm the information that we gathered and ask for assistance and further investigation on what should we do first before calling the law enforcement while the patient is still in the care area because nurses or healthcare provider are required to report it to the law enforcement
- To Assess the patient we need to check for the, facial expression, general appearance, posture, eye contact, and mental status by talking to the patient and observing.
- Good morning ma'am
- In managing a patient who is victim of abused we need to be empathetic, be gentle on the way we use our voice or gestures, don't ask questions that can worsen the mental state of the patient because we need to make sure that the patient will feel safe so that they can trust us.
- If the patient had the following characteristics like bruises, mentally distress and many more that provides that the patient is physically abused we need to ask the patient why she got that, to confirm where she got that injury. Make sure you let the patient knows that we are here to help and continue to be supportive.
