Have you heard about the cancel culture?
It's basically when rich , famous, or highly respected people get called out by their victims for the wrong things they did.
But isn't it wrong to put someone in the spotlight like that for them to get hate for it?
Well yes but at the same time no, doing this makes people feel as if their voices are finally being heard.
Hmmm I don't know. It feels like a way to just bully people even though everyone makes mistakes.
Actually I can see why you think that but there are many other reasons for it.
Can you give me some examples?
Calling them out is another way for more people to see what they did and give the victim justice.
Sure... Some people have been abused by really big people like company owners and celebrities , so nobody ever believes them when they try to say what happened.
Another example could be using it to call out the government. Call out culture isn't all about cancelling one person at a time, its about calling out all the things and people that are wrong.
People used social media to call out the police for taking innocent lives, which led to everyone coming together and marching for our rights.
I think I'm starting to get it now
