Wow!! What a hot day on the beach today. I'm sure I will get a nice tan with all the radiation coming from the hot sun!
Radiation doesn't involve particles, which is why it is the most efficient heat transfer. That is why I'm already so tan and hot and I haven't even been on the beach for very long!
zzz... radiation... radiation... zzz... transfer of heat in waves... EMR... zzz...
Half an hour later...
I'm so super duper hungry!! I'm filling up this pot with cold water to boil so I can make myself a nice bowl of pasta!!
The action of me putting the cool water/pot onto the hot fire is causing conduction. In conduction, two substances of different temperatures have a direct collision, and the heat is flowing from the fire to the pot of boiling water to heat it up. I'm holding the handle and not the pot because metal is a good heat conductor, so I would burn my hand if I held the pot.
Mmmm... this pasta really hit the spot! And it's even more delicious knowing about all the science that went into making it.
