  • Our main character of this story so far is Manual. Manual is the fourth of seven children and looked like a lot of kids in the neighborhood. Manual was in a talent show, and his part is to sing as Ritchie Valens. While he was practicing for the talent show their recorder broke.
  • Gary Soto Gary Soto is the Author of this story that I just read! It is called La Bamba of course. Gary was born in Fresno California, on April 12, 1952, to working-class Mexican-American parents. As a teenager and college student, he worked on the fields of San Joaquin Valley, chopping beats and cotton and picking grapes. Gary attended Fresno City College and California State University-Fresno, and he earned an MFA from the University of California- Irvine in 1976.
  • In this part of the story while they were rehearsing Benny walked on the stage, raised his trumpet to his mouth, and waited for his cue. Benny blew so loud that Manual had dropped his record, which rolled across the cafeteria floor until it hit a wall. Manual ran after it picked it up, and thank goodness that it did not break! The Show began.

The violin duo played next, and except for one time when the girl got lost, they sounded pretty fine.Manual went on stage the music started right away. He had to do some dance moves and lip sync to Micheal Jackson around the stage. The record got stuck, he did not know anything else to do than bow.
