Betty is a Butanding. She doesn’t have much friends because the sharks thinks she’s a whale, and the whales think she’s a shark!
One day, as she is swimming about the ocean, she meets this really, really big whale. The biggest whale she’s ever seen!
“Hello there! I am Wally. I am migrating here for the winter. Are you from around here? Everyone seems to be scared of me.” Betty nodded. “We don’t get much gray whales around here, they aren’t used to seeing new faces. But that’s okay, I’ll be your friend!”
Betty tours Wally around the area. They spend everyday together, their friendship growing day by day, until they become the best of friends and are inseparable.
But winter starts to come to an end, and Wally has to prepare to leave. One day, Wally told Betty he was going away that day. “I’m migrating for the summer, but I’ll be back next winter!”
Betty waved a tearful good bye to Wally. But Betty was a Butanding! She cannot feel sad.But she was. And every time she remembers Wally she feels sad all over again. She remembers all their fun times, but she also remembers their tearful goodbye.
