  • Initial Dialogue
  • (1ST) "From now on, when you reach that tree, you’ll stop and stretch, do some pushups, something. While you’re doing whatever it is you do, you’ll be looking hard into the nooks and crannies of the boulders around the tree" (Deuker 61)
  • (3RD) "Most days, nothing. But some days there will be a package" (Deuker 61).

  • Propels The Action By...
  • Outcome
  • The Marina Worker (Left) is offering Chance (Right) a job to earn more money. This will lead Chance to be pulled into a scheme that will lead to either a drug war or a terrorist attack on the marina and the other boats.
  • Initial Dialogue
  • (1ST) “Is there someplace on the boat where you could store things for a while" (Deuker 108)? (3RD) "Come on, there has to be someplace. It’s worth another hundred dollars a month to you" (Deuker 108).
  • Chance chooses to take the job running packages. Running packages that chance doesn't even know what it's contents are, gives him anxiety that he is smuggling drugs, which could lead to a drug war.
  • Propels The Action By...
  • The Marina Man (Right) giving Chance (Left) the opportunity to take his family out of poverty, opens up a window of opportunity for the Marina Worker to ask for favors.
  • Outcome
  • The Marina Worker (Right) giving Chance (Left) gives him the opportunity to ask for favors. One of which is having Chance hide something on his boat for the Marina Worker for some time.
  • (2ND) "I don’t know. I don’t think so. Everything’s pretty tight already." (Deukler 108).
  • Chance agreeing to hide something on his boat for the Marina Worker will lead up to something that will not end will. Something that will blow up in his face.
  • Chance's mistake of hiding packages on his boat will be at the cost of the boat, and his father. Chance learns that inside the packages, are plastid explosives which were attempted to be used to blow up other ships at the Marina. (Thing That Looks Like Pumpkin Pie Is Fire And Explosion)
