  • Atoms are homogeneous, with no internal structure. They are different in their sizes, shapes, and their weight.
  • Their Science teacher wil be discussing the significant contributions of different people and events on the idea of the atom and the elements to his students.
  • He started dicussing with one of the most important people concerning The Greeks and atoms, Aristotle.
  • Compounds are formed by a combination of two or more different kinds of atoms. In a chemical reactions, atoms are neither created nor destroyed, only rearranged.
  • All atoms of a given element are identical in mass and properties. Atoms cannot be divided into smaller parts.
  • He now started disussing with the person who came up with the idea of Atom, Democritus.
  • I studied the passage of an electric current through a gas. As the current passed through the gas, it gave off rays of negatively charged particles.
  • Atom is a positive sphere with negative electrons dispersed throughout. Atoms are made from a positively charged substance with negatively charged electrons scattered about, like raisins in a pudding.
  • Then he started dicussing the Alchemists, Greek Science in Alexandria. They changed ordinary metals into precious metals like gold.
  • He now started discussing the person who developed the atomic theory and said that atoms are still invisible sphere, John Dalton.
  • Then he discussed J.J Thomson who discovered particles in the atom with negative charge called electrons.
