Lucentio rides into Padua on his horse, joined by his slave, Tranio. Once Lucentio spots a beautiful woman named Bianca, he comes up with a plan to have her.
Bianca has two other people that admire her, Hortensio and Gremio. Signior Baptista, Bianca's father, must deal with these two and remind them if they want to marry Bianca, Katharina must be wed first.
Katharina clearly does not intend on getting married, so Hortensio and Gremio come up with a plan with a plan to get another man to marry Katharina. That man is Petruchio.
Petruchio manages to "tame the shrew" and tells Baptiste of the news. He also announces that they will be wed on Friday and this makes Katharina even more mad. It's because of Petruchio that Lucentio, Hortensio, and Gremio all now have a chance with Bianca.
As Petruchio and Katharina are married now, Bianca and Lucentio go out and follow along with the plan. Secretly, Grumio has been disguised as Lucentioin in order to impress Signior Baptista; Now, the real Lucentio and Bianca can getting married secretly.
After dragging Hortensio's widow and Bianca back into the party, Katharina gives a long speech how a real woman should act with their husband. This is ironic seeing as Katharina intended not to be married and is now telling people how they should act. The story ends with Petruchio and Katharina kissing and leaving as all of the people applaud.
