Hamlet Sr. takes over Norway and kills Fortinbras Sr. to steal his land and all of his wealth and tresures.
"You, good Cornelius, and you, Voltemand, For bearers of this greeting to old Norway,"
Fortnibras Jr's inheritance was stolen and he vows to avenge his father and get all of his wealth back.
"Receives rebuke from Norway, and, in fine, Makes vow before his uncle never more To give th’ assay of arms against your Majesty."
Fortinbras builds up an army of criminals and threatens the safety of Denmark. He wants to prove himself as he has not done it before.
"And, at our more considered time, we’ll read, Answer, and think upon this business."
King Claudius sends a messenger to deliver a letter to the uncle of Fotribras Jr. He asks the uncle to make his nephew stop being hostile toward them.
When Fortinbras uncle receives the letter, he writes back that he will pay Fortinbras army and he made Fortinbras promise not to attack Denmark. He also asks for passage through Denmark to take over Poland with their army.
The messengers return and tell the king all that Fortinbras's uncle said. The king does not answer the Uncle's request for passage right away and decided to take some time to consider it.
