  • Most Japanese Canadians lived in British Colombia, and in small coastal villages most of whom were second generation Canadians. 3000 had received citizen ship and 6000 were still Japanese nationals.
  • After the attack on pearl harbor Canada declared war on Japan. Many laws were passed that restricted Japanese Canadians from fishing for the duration of the war. 
  • On march 4 all people of Japanese heritage were ordered to leave the protected areas, pack one suitcase each and turn over property belongings to the custody of the Enemy Alien property
