They found these people with weird hats and tried to communicate with them but they didn't understand. The people with the hats gave them furs as a "greeting".
The Europeans then unloaded their guns, knives,etc. out of their boat and the First Nations then saw and thought the guns and knives could help them hunt
The First Nations then started trading every fur they had for the guns and knives.
Europeans then traded all their valuables for the furs especially the beaver furs because back in Europe there was a craze on beaver hats. As the First Nations hunted the Europeans stayed in their trading posts.
