  • Nick describes Gatsby's library as "a high Gothic library, paneled with carved English oak, and probably transported complete from some ruin overseas" (Fitzgerald 45),.
  • Upon entering, Nick depicts the main hall, saying: "In the main hall a bar with real brass rail was set up, and stocked with gins and liquors and with cordials so long forgotten" (Fitzgerald 40).
  • Nick notes how Gatsby's garden is "At least once a fortnight a corps of caterers came down with several hundred feet of canvas and enough colored lights to make a Christmas tree of Gatsby's enormous garden" (Fitzgerald 40).
