The narrator invites a childhood friend over to his house to help him overcome some troubles. The narrator notices that the Usher seems sickly. He realizes that the state of the house is like the state of Roderick Usher
Roderick explains that his twin sister Madeline is dying. Usher keeps her body preserved so that doctors could examine her. She finally "passes" and Usher plans for her burial.
One night the sky is stormy and the narrator hears strange noises all throughout the house. Usher goes the the narrators bed chambers and begins to read to him to clam him down.
the narrator hears a scream echo through the house. Usher gets frightened and starts rocking on the flooring telling the narrator that hes been hearing noises from his sisters coffin. He realized they buried her alive. the door opens and she is there all bloody.
Madeline falls on Roderick and he dies from fear. the narrator runs out of the house
the narrator watches the house collapse and disappear into the fog and water.
