Saudi Arabia is very well known around the world for its oil. They became a key resource of oil for the United States because America became extremely thirsty for Saudi Arabia's oil.
During the Cold War, Saudi Arabia decided towards the United States and help hedge Great Britain. At the time the British dominated the Persian Gulf region. The British also controlled the oil resources in most gulf countries.
The Cold War saw a profound shift in global energy consumption. Oil overtook and became the key energy source in the Middle East during the Cold War. Energy fueled the rise of the U.S. global eeconomic order.
During the Cold War, Saudi Arabia traded oil to the west for firearms. Because of this trade, it set up, shaped, and it helped the United States become dominant during the war.
