  • Exposition
  • The characters in the story are Sir Gawain, King Arthur, The Round Table, Sir Bertilak, The Green Knight, and Lady Bertilak. The story begins in Camelot. The story tells us about a game that is being played between two characters. It takes place in Medieval England.
  • Rising Action
  • With the arrival of the strange green knight, he asked for a favor. The strange knight also asked one of Arthur's knights to play some sort of game with him. They all went silent and did not know what to do in the presence of the strange green knight. The game was that one person would get to chop off his head but, the knight that chopped his head off would have to return in a year to get his cut off in return.
  • Climax
  • Gawain leaves the castle and goes to find the strange mysterious Green Knight. They meet but Gawain is wearing a belt to protect that will protect him from harm. This belt was given to him by Lady Bertilak. The Green Knight goes to hit Gawain and realizes he is not hurt and something is not right. Gawain tells him about the belt.
  • Falling Action
  • Gawain feels bad that he tricked the Green Knights and has his mindset on letting him take his life fairly but, the Green Knight decides to spare him his life due to him telling the truth.
  • Resolution
  • The story then turns and we find out that Green Knight is Sir Bertilak. They end the story with them feasting in the castle.
